Math Skills

We are revisting multiplication and division in our class again! Yes, including those really strange strategies that have recently been developed. I cannot stress how important it is for students to know their basic facts and be practicing at home. In multiplication we are working with 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication. In division we are just reviewing the strategies and sharpening our skills. Please check out hte videos with your students for extra practice.

Here is more help for our Tower/Magic 7 Strategy.

Reading week of 3/24/14

Hello Families,

This week in reading, we will covering a new skill- understanding the difference between a first hand written account of an event and a second hand written account of an event. We will test this skill on Friday.

In spelling, we will not have any words this week. We will pick back up with spelling when we return from Spring Break.

In writing, we will work on writing a personal narrative. This is not new and students should be able to write their draft this week. We will pick back up with it after the break.

In grammar, we were doing some review on sentence structure, correction, and verbs.

We have a busy week ahead,
Mrs. Rogers

The paper went home last Friday and students need to bring back the bottom portion signed, showing that you are aware of this project. Students were also given an additional checklist on Monday to use to make sure they get all the required parts. Students can present this project in several ways - they can pick what interests them!! Please don't delay, get started now and let me know if you have any questions.

Kentucky History Project

We will begin our study of Kentucky next week. On Wednesday, your child is bringing home a sheet titled "Historical Frame." This at-home study is simple, please assist your child in choosing a historical event that took place in Kentucky. You may use your Kentucky textbook to find an event.  The website www.kentuckytourism.com is also helpful. Once on that site, click on ‘About Kentucky’ and begin your search. Please do your best to complete each box on the organizer. This organizer will be used to complete a graded writing lesson. There is no other requirement, but to complete and present your organizer in class. I am excited to hear what you learned about! This project will be due on Monday, March 10th.
